LightCraft — Terms of Service
Effective date: June 22, 2026
App publisher: Alvis Electrical Inc / ServiceBook Pros, Aurora, Colorado, USA
Contact: support@lightcraft.tools
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the LightCraft mobile application and any related services (collectively, the "App"). By installing or using the App you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
1. Who can use LightCraft
You must be at least 13 years old to use the App. If you are using the App on behalf of a business or organization (for example, an electrical contractor), you represent that you are authorized to bind that organization to these Terms.
2. The two modes
LightCraft offers two operating modes:
- Homeowner mode — free, intended for non-professional residential lighting planning.
- Pro mode — paid subscription, intended for licensed electricians, designers, and other trade professionals. Pro mode unlocks NEC load and voltage-drop calculations, branded PDF export, the licensed-electrician verified badge, multi-room project files, and priority support.
You may switch modes at any time inside the App. Switching to Pro mode requires an active Pro subscription.
3. Pro subscriptions, trials and renewals
LightCraft Pro is sold as an auto-renewing subscription through Apple's App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android). At launch, the following plans are offered:
- Pro Monthly — US $4.99 per month, billed monthly.
- Pro Annual — US $39.99 per year, billed annually.
A 7-day free trial is available to first-time subscribers. Unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, the subscription automatically renews at the then-current price published on the App Store or Google Play. Prices may vary by region and are shown in your local currency at checkout.
All payments are processed by Apple or Google. LightCraft does not receive or store your payment card details. To manage or cancel a subscription, use the subscription settings of your App Store or Google Play account.
4. Refunds
Refund requests are handled by Apple or Google according to their policies. LightCraft cannot issue refunds directly for purchases made through the App Store or Google Play. If you believe you were charged in error, contact Apple or Google support, and email support@lightcraft.tools so we can help track the issue.
5. Acceptable use
You agree to use the App only for lawful purposes and only in connection with residential or light commercial lighting planning. You will not:
- Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or extract source code from the App, except as expressly permitted by applicable law.
- Use the App to design, install, or modify electrical systems in violation of any law, code, ordinance, or permit requirement.
- Misrepresent your professional credentials inside the App, including by claiming a license, badge, or certification you do not hold.
- Resell, sublicense, or distribute LightCraft accounts or content without prior written permission.
We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms or use the App in a way that creates legal, security, or reputational risk for LightCraft or its users.
6. Engineering disclaimer (read this)
LightCraft provides calculations, layout suggestions, fixture recommendations, and exportable PDFs based on the National Electrical Code (NEC) editions, Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) recommended-lux values, and manufacturer datasheets we believe to be accurate as of the App's release date. These outputs are decision-support tools — they are not engineering stamps, permits, or substitutes for inspection.
You are responsible for:
- Confirming the NEC edition adopted in your jurisdiction and any state or local amendments.
- Verifying every calculation against current manufacturer datasheets and current code before installation.
- Securing all required permits, plan reviews, and inspections.
- Ensuring that work is performed by a person licensed to perform it in the applicable jurisdiction.
The "licensed-electrician verified badge" on a PDF indicates that the LightCraft account holder submitted license details we accepted at the time of verification. It is not a substitute for jurisdictional verification by the recipient (homeowner, AHJ, GC). LightCraft does not warrant the accuracy of any license claim and is not responsible for misuse of the badge.
7. User content and projects
You retain all rights to project files, room sketches, notes, and PDFs you create with the App ("Your Content"). By using the optional cloud sync feature, you grant LightCraft a limited license to store and transmit Your Content solely for the purpose of providing the sync service to you. Your Content stays local on your device unless you explicitly enable sync.
8. Third-party brands and datasheets
Brand names (Halo, Lithonia, Juno, Kichler, and others) and fixture model numbers shown in the App belong to their respective owners and are used for identification only. LightCraft is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any fixture manufacturer. Datasheet values are reproduced for convenience and may change at any time without notice.
9. Privacy
Your use of the App is also governed by the LightCraft Privacy Policy, which describes what data we collect, how we store it, and your choices.
10. Intellectual property
The App, including the calculation engine, UI, branding, and documentation, is © Alvis Electrical Inc and its licensors. Except for the rights expressly granted to you in these Terms, all rights are reserved.
11. Termination
You may stop using the App at any time by uninstalling it. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, if a payment is reversed, or if continued operation would expose LightCraft to legal risk. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (disclaimers, intellectual property, limitation of liability, governing law) will survive.
12. Disclaimer of warranties
The App is provided "as is" and "as available." LightCraft disclaims, to the maximum extent permitted by law, all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy of calculations, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that calculations will match every jurisdiction's interpretation of the NEC.
13. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, LightCraft, its owners, employees, and licensors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, goodwill, or business interruption, arising out of or relating to your use of the App, even if advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total cumulative liability for any claim arising out of these Terms or the App will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid LightCraft in the 12 months preceding the claim, or (b) US $50.
14. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless LightCraft, Alvis Electrical Inc, and their personnel from any claim, demand, or liability (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of (a) your use of the App, (b) your violation of these Terms, or (c) electrical work you perform or direct that is based in whole or in part on App outputs.
15. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Colorado, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Adams County, Colorado, and you consent to personal jurisdiction there.
16. Apple-specific terms
If you obtained the App from the Apple App Store, you acknowledge that:
- These Terms are between you and LightCraft, not between you and Apple. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the App.
- Apple is a third-party beneficiary of these Terms and may enforce them against you.
- In the event of any failure of the App to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the App's purchase price to you (if any); to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Apple has no other warranty obligation.
- You agree to comply with the Apple Media Services Terms in your use of the App.
17. Google-specific terms
If you obtained the App from Google Play, you acknowledge that your use is also governed by the Google Play Terms of Service. LightCraft is solely responsible for the App and for support, not Google.
18. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the new effective date at the top of this document and, where the change is material, surface a notice inside the App at least 7 days before the change takes effect. Continued use of the App after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
