LightCraft ("the app", "we") is a lighting design calculator for homeowners and licensed electricians, distributed via the Apple App Store and Google Play. This policy describes what data the app collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. It is written to satisfy:
- Apple App Store App Privacy disclosure requirements
- Google Play Data safety requirements
- California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA)
- EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) where it applies to iOS / Android users in the EEA
If a section of this policy conflicts with a more restrictive local law that applies to you, that local law controls.
1. Data we collect
LightCraft is local-first. The default install creates and stores your projects, rooms, fixture selections, and exported PDFs only on your device.
When you choose to use specific optional features, additional data is sent off-device:
| Feature | Data sent | Recipient |
|---|---|---|
| Cloud sync (off by default) | Project & room records (name, dimensions, fixture id, custom layout) plus your account email | Supabase (hosted by Supabase Inc., AWS US East) |
| Pro subscription | Apple/Google account identifier, anonymized purchase token, subscription status | RevenueCat, Inc. and Apple App Store / Google Play |
| License verification | Holder name, state, license number, submission timestamp | Alvis Electrical Inc. (our team reviews submissions in v1) |
| PDF export / share | The PDF file itself (only via the OS share sheet you invoke) | Whichever app you pick from the share sheet (Mail, Files, Drive, etc.) |
| Crash + diagnostic logs (opt-in) | Anonymous device model, OS version, crash stack | Expo / Sentry |
We do not collect: contacts, photos, microphone, advertising identifiers, precise location, browsing history, or any third-party-app data.
LightCraft does not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising under CCPA.
2. How we use data
- Provide the service. Calculate fixture layouts, persist your projects, generate PDFs, manage your subscription, surface your verified-electrician badge.
- Account security. Authenticate cloud-sync sessions and prevent abuse.
- Compliance. Verify your electrician license against state records when you submit one.
- Aggregate product analytics (counts of feature use, anonymized). We use this to decide what to build next. We do not link it to your account.
We do not train AI models on your project data.
3. Children
LightCraft is not directed to children under 13 (or 16 in the EEA). We do not knowingly collect data from children.
4. Data retention
- Local data stays on your device until you delete the project, delete the app, or wipe your device.
- Cloud sync data (when enabled) is retained until you delete the project from any synced device or close your account.
- Subscription records are retained for the period required by Apple, Google, and US tax law.
- License-verification submissions are retained for as long as your verified badge is active, plus 12 months after revocation for audit.
5. Your rights
You can, at any time:
- Export or delete any project from inside the app.
- Disable cloud sync in Settings → Cloud sync.
- Cancel your Pro subscription via Apple Subscriptions or Google Play Subscriptions (we cannot cancel it for you per Apple/Google policy).
- Email privacy@lightcraft.tools to request a copy or deletion of any data we hold off-device.
If you are in the EEA, UK, or California, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.
6. International transfers
Data sent to Supabase, RevenueCat, Apple, or Google may be processed in the United States. Where required, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses for EEA / UK transfers.
7. Security
We use TLS for all network traffic, OS-keychain encryption for stored credentials, and Postgres row-level security on the Supabase project so each account can only read its own rows. No security model is perfect; notify privacy@lightcraft.tools if you believe you have found a vulnerability.
8. Changes to this policy
We will post any material changes on lightcraft.tools/privacy and update the "Effective date" above. Continued use of the app after the effective date means you accept the updated policy.
